‘A fresh perspective on an old view’

Share

In May, Subodh Kolla ventured out on his first helicopter ride, courtesy of Elite Helicopter Tours, which allows photographers to ride open-air helicopters and shoot aerial views of Los Angeles.

Overcast skies in Van Nuys initially had him worried, but just as the chopper took off, Kolla says, “the sky opened up and a beautiful sunset appeared just as we approached Santa Monica from the east.”

“Having been to Santa Monica countless times (I lived in West L.A. at the time), this vantage point, approximately 200-250 meters above ground provided a fresh perspective on an old view.”

The image was made with a Nikon D800 and Nikkor 20mm f/1.8 lens, shot handheld with a high shutter speed and ISO to avoid motion blur, and processed in Adobe Lightroom.
