Dodgers recall Ian Thomas, option Adam Liberatore
Left-hander Ian Thomas was recalled from triple-A Oklahoma City to reinforce the depleted Dodgers bullpen for their series finale against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.
Brandon Beachy lasted only four innings in his start Monday, and Brett Anderson pitched 2 2/3 innings the following day before he was left the game with an Achilles’ tendon injury.
That left the bullpen to cover 9 1/3 innings over the last two days.
To clear a roster spot for Thomas, the Dodgers optioned left-hander Adam Liberatore to triple A.
This is Thomas’ fourth promotion to the Dodgers’ major league team. He has pitched five innings and allowed four earned runs.
Thomas was acquired on May 27 as part of the trade that sent Juan Uribe to the Braves.
