The Times introduces new Dodgers writer Andy McCullough

The Dodgers and Angels may be adding star power to their rosters in 2016 – but so are we.

Andy McCullough, one of the best baseball writers in the country, is leaving the Kansas City Star to join our Dodgers coverage team.

This year, Andy won a wide audience and the admiration of his peers for his coverage of the Kansas City Royals’ march to a World Series title. He was a must-read for Royals fans and baseball writers alike, and we’re delighted that he is bringing his insightful analysis and polished storytelling to The Times.

For a delightful example of Andy’s ability to bring to life the game’s nuances and telling moments, check out the narrative he wrote on the Royals’ comeback victory in the 2014 AL Wild Card contest. He also excels at social media, with 50,000 Twitter followers, and he is a natural on video.

Before joining the KC Star, Andy worked for the Newark Star Ledger, covering the Mets from 2010-12 and the New York Yankees in 2013. The Associated Press Sports Editors named him one of the 10 best beat writers in the country in both 2013 and 2014.

Andy is a native of suburban Philadelphia and graduate of Syracuse University. He will join the staff in January.
