Highlights from the Dodgers’ 7-3 exhibition victory over the Chicago Cubs:

AT THE PLATE: Andre Ethier, who has been slowed by a bruise on his right wrist, had two singles and scored in the fourth inning when center fielder Juan Perez, battling the sun and the wind, misplayed Enrique Hernandez’s deep fly ball into a triple. Chase Utley drove in a run with a fifth-inning single, and Trayce Thompson, an outfielder trying to win a reserve spot, drove in two runs with a triple to right-center field in the seventh. Catcher A.J. Ellis and second baseman Micah Johnson each had two hits.

ON THE MOUND: Clayton Kershaw was generally pleased with a three-inning start in which he gave up one run and five hits, all singles, struck out five, walked one and threw 50 pitches. “It was physically good,” said Kershaw, who gave up a run-scoring single to Kris Bryant in the third inning. “Fastball location wasn’t great, especially out of the stretch. I threw some decent breaking balls. The curve could have been a little better. The slider was decent.” Carlos Frias gave up one hit and struck out two in two scoreless innings.

EXTRA BASES: Infielder Howie Kendrick was held out of drills after being scratched Monday because of soreness in his right groin. Manager Dave Roberts said Kendrick felt better. … Top pitching prospect Julio Urias, who threw a two-inning simulated game Monday, is scheduled to make his spring debut Friday against the Angels. … Infielder Alex Guerrero (left knee injury) was scratched from Tuesday’s lineup but able to take part in baseball activities in the morning. … Commissioner Rob Manfred said that the domestic violence investigation involving outfielder Yasiel Puig, who reportedly got into a heated exchange with a bouncer in a Miami bar in November, “is essentially complete” and that a resolution would be coming “shortly.”
