Adrian Gonzalez, Howie Kendrick lead Dodgers to 7-3 win over Rockies

AT THE PLATE: The Dodgers struck early, scoring three runs in the first inning against Kyle Kendrick. Adrian Gonzalez’s double scored Jimmy Rollins and Howie Kendrick hit a two-run home run halfway up to the left-field pavilion. Gonzalez was three for four with two doubles, two runs batted in and three runs scored. The four-time All-Star is now batting .550, and his 22 hits are the most by any player in franchise history through the first 10 games of a season. Gonzalez will attend the first 30 minutes of the Viva Los Dodgers festival preceding the series finale Sunday in the parking lot at the 76 station. The event begins at 11 a.m.

ON THE MOUND: Clayton Kershaw was charged with three runs (one earned) and six hits over six innings. He gave up two home runs, but struck out 12 and walked only one. Left-hander Paco Rodriguez pitched a perfect seventh inning, Yimi Garcia pitched a scoreless eighth and left-hander Adam Liberatore a perfect ninth inning in his major league debut. Liberatore was called up earlier in the day from triple-A Oklahoma City as a replacement for Carlos Frias, who was optioned to Oklahoma City the previous day. Liberatore, 27, is now the third left-hander in the Dodgers bullpen, alongside Rodriguez and J.P. Howell.

WAIVER WIRE: Claimed off waivers by the Dodgers only two days earlier, minor league right-hander Ryan Dennick was designated for assignment. Dennick’s place on the 40-man roster was taken by another pitcher claimed off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds, right-hander Daniel Corcino. Corcino pitched in the major leagues for the first time last season, appearing in five games for the Reds and posting a 4.34 earned-run average. He is expected to be optioned to the minor leagues.
