Baseball: Jake Baer gets seven RBIs in El Camino Real win

It was a memorable Wednesday for Jake Baer of El Camino Real. He finished with seven RBIs, including a grand slam, in the Conquistadores’ 12-0 West Valley League win over Granada Hills.

Jeremy Polon allowed three hits in the shutout. Peter Abinanti had three hits in Chatsworth’s 11-1 win over Taft. Cleveland stayed tied for first place with ECR after a 4-0 win over Birmingham. Sam Villa threw the shutout. Chris Gonzalez had two hits.

In the South Coast League, Jay Schuyler of Dana Hills stepped forward in the seventh inning of a 1-1 tie against Aliso Niguel and ended the game with a grand slam. Marrick Crouse threw 6 2/3 innings.

In the Sea View League, Mission Viejo knocked off Trabuco Hills, 3-2. Patrick Sandoval threw a complete game and became the school’s all-time leader in career wins with 23.

In the Trinity League, Santa Margarita defeated Servite, 2-1. Kyle Bushhousen threw a four-hitter over 6 2/3 innings and Nick Meyer got the save. Nick Plaskett and Johnny Carr had RBIs. Quentin Longmire threw six shutout innings in JSerra’s 6-0 win over St. John Bosco at Angel Stadium. Cole Spear threw a one-hitter in Orange Lutheran’s 9-0 win over Mater Dei.

Foothill improved to 7-0 in the North Hills League with a 15-0 win over Brea. Sebastian Lopez improved to 9-0. Lopez had four RBI. Cooper Cougnet contributed three hits.

Huntington Beach stayed in first place in the Sunset League with a 9-3 win over Newport Harbor. Logan Pouelsen had a grand slam. Marina defeated Edison, 8-6.

In the Marmonte League, Agoura defeated Westlake, 9-1. Bryce Fehmel had a home run and four RBI. Brandon Shearer, Ryan Fineman and Ben Baird each had two hits. Oaks Christian defeated Newbury Park, 3-2, in 13 innings on an RBI double by Noah Prewett. Riley Helland, Michael Kress and Cortez Espinoza had three hits apiece. Calabasas defeated Thousand Oaks, 3-2. Grant Nechak gave up one run in six innings and had a two-run home run.

Esperanza defeated El Modena, 7-4. Haydon Nix had two hits and two RBI. Eric Bigani had three RBI. El Dorado is 7-0 in the Crestview League after an 8-6 win over Anaheim Canyon. Nick Sprengel allowed one earned run in six innings.

In the Baseline League, Upland defeated Los Osos, 7-4. Kyle Isbel had four RBI in Etiwanda’s 4-2 win over Rancho Cucamonga. Nick Lodolo struck out eight in Damien’s 4-3 win over Chino Hills.

In the Palomares League, South Hills defeated Ayala, 4-2. Glendora defeated Claremont, 4-1. Race Gardner had two hits.

Royal defeated Simi Valley, 2-1. Freshman Jaden Fein had the walk-off single in the seventh. Kurt Johnson struck out nine in seven innings.

Arlington (17-3, 10-0) defeated Canyon Springs, 4-0. It was the 900th career baseball game for Arlington Coach Gary Rungo. Boone Elkins struck out seven in throwing the shutout.

In the East Valley League, Verdugo Hills defeated Grant, 5-2. Grant Mona finished with three hits. Poly defeated Monroe, 18-5. Michael Galindo went four for five with three RBI. Poly clinched the league title.

In the Valley Mission League, San Fernando defeated Van Nuys, 11-2. Kai Gomez went three for three with a double and triple. Eddie Mendez added two RBI.

Fulton Prep clinched the Valley League title with a 11-0 win over Valley Academy. Joseph Reyes struck out nine.

In the Foothill League, Saugus defeated Valencia, 3-2. Caden Salkeld had a two-run double. Anthony Donatella threw 4 1/3 innings for the win. Hart lost to West Ranch, 10-4, in 10 innings.

In the Southwestern League, Temecula Valley defeated Great Oak, 7-4. Vista Murrieta defeated Murrieta Mesa, 8-5.

Cypress stayed unbeaten in the Empire League with an 8-7 win over Valencia in eight innings. Ezele Wicks had the walk-off single.

Harvard-Westlake defeated San Marcos, 9-1. Matt Thomas went three for three.

Rene Houseman had two hits in Mira Costa’s 16-0 win over Inglewood.
