Boys' basketball: No. 1 Corona Centennial wins in Las Vegas

The Tarkanian Classic began on Wednesday in Las Vegas, and No. 1 Corona Centennial (4-0) opened with a 76-50 win over Las Vegas Clark. Jordan Griffin led the Huskies with 15 points.

In other games in Las Vegas, Redondo received 15 points apiece from Leland Green and Billy Preston in a 70-64 win over Costitution. Redondo will play Chino Hills on Thursday. Chino Hills defeaed El Cajon Foothills Christian, 84-73. Jared Nyivih had 22 points and LiAngelo Ball 18 for Chino Hills. Arizona commit TJ Leaf had 33 points for Foothills Christian.

Long Beach Poly was beaten by Putnam City, 63-57.

L.A. Poly was beaten by Utah Orem, 63-49. Windward lost to Bishop Gorman, 74-57, despite 19 points from sophomore Jalen Harris. Stephen Zimmerman had 12 points and 12 rebounds for Bishop Gorman. Prestonwood defeated Maranatha, 56-53, despite 24 points by Tyler Dorsey.

In the San Fernando Valley Invitational, St. Genevieve defeaed Simi Valley, 60-53. Marcel Burton had 15 points. Milken defeated Camarillo, 56-47. Granada Hills defeated North Hollywood, 76-43, with Michael Mensah scoring 21 points and Michael Kalu scoring 20. Verdugo Hills defeated Cleveland, 71-52. Shane Hughes had 23 points and Leoni Aleksan added 21 points.

In the Inland Empire Classic, Etiwanda defeated Grand Terrace, 73-25. Kam Edwards had 18 points. The quarterfinals: Rancho-Cucamonga; Colony-Redlands East Valley; Etiwanda-Canyon Springs; Miller-Temecula Valley.

In the Santa Margarita tournament, Santa Margarita improved to 5-0 with a 67-54 win over Palos Verdes. Jordan Guest and Scott Wesierskii each scored 16 points.

In the Coliseum League, Crenshaw improved to 2-0 with a 63-60 win over View Park.

In the North Orange County championships, Servite received 27 points from Trevor Treinen in a 49-34 win over San Juan Hills.

Anaheim Canyon defeated Orangewood, 87-64, with Nick Anderson scoring 32 points.

Dorsey defeated Hawkins, 91-25. Cameron Evans scored 16 points and Jon Staggers 14. Moorpark defeated Newbury Park, 53-39. In the Valley Mission League, Sylmar defeated Van Nuys, 63-52. Oak Park defeated Agoura, 54-46. Riley Battin had 20 points. Westlake defeated Yeshiva, 63-51. Michael Hayon had 17 points.

Burbank defeated Monrovia, 56-51. Ellie Hanno scored 18 points. Freshman David Mixon scored 19 points and Jose Velasquez added 14 points in South Gate's 72-32 win over Banning.
