Boys’ basketball: Santa Monica’s New Williams shows he’s healthy
New Williams is back from knee injury
Santa Monica hosted its MidVike Madness on Saturday night. There was a D.J., loud music, flashing lights, the unveiling of a new luxury suite, competitions for students. It was a nice gathering, but the most important news was seeing standout guard New Williams dunking during a shooting contest.
He spent seven months recovering from an ACL injury. The Auburn-bound senior is a key player for the Vikings’ hopes this season.
“I feel excellent. I feel great,” Willaims said. “I’ve added about six inches on my vertical and I’m ready to get out there and play.”
Santa Monica opens its season in the Redondo tournament on Nov. 24.
