Taft has hired Nate Turner to be its new football coach.

Turner was an assistant at Long Beach Poly for two years, coaching receivers.

He replaces Deron Braswell, who resigned to become the offensive coordinator at Crespi.

"The opportunity presented itself and I know the history of Taft High," he said. "It's been prominent over the years. I thought it would be a great fit for me."
