Monday night preview: Giants at Redskins
N.Y. Giants (7-4) at Washington Redskins (5-6)
Time: 5:30 p.m. TV: ESPN
Story line: This is a rematch of one of the season’s best games, the Giants’ 27-23 home victory Oct. 21 when Eli Manning completed a 77-yard touchdown pass to Victor Cruz with 1:13 remaining, seconds after Redskins rookie Robert Griffin III threw a 30-yard TD pass to Santana Moss. The Redskins rushed for 248 yards that day, and now seek to tighten the NFC East race. Griffin threw eight touchdown passes in a five-day span against Philadelphia and Dallas.
Giants said: “He is one of the best dual threats in our game today and we’re going to have our hands full trying to stop that guy.” —Justin Tuck, defensive end, on Griffin.
Redskins said: “The things they faced the last time with the running game are still there, but we’ve added elements in the passing game that make us more dangerous.” — Griffin.
Bottom line: The Giants are a one-point favorite. The over/under is 51. … Washington ranks No. 2 with 162.9 rushing yards per game. … Washington corner DeAngelo Hall has repeated his claim that the Redskins “gave” Manning the Cruz game-winner with blown coverage.
