The City Section Division I boys’ basketball pairings released Saturday produced no surprises. Defending champion Westchester (25-5) was seeded No. 1 and last season’s runner-up, Woodland Hills El Camino Real (21-6), was seeded No. 2.

Those two schools are heavily favored to reach the championship game set for March 8 at Los Angeles Southwest College.

Westchester is bidding for its 13th City championship under Coach Ed Azzam. The Comets have been led by 6-foot-4 senior Elijah Stewart, a Loyola Marymount signee. El Camino Real, which went unbeaten in the West Valley League, features Santa Clara-bound Evan Wardlow, plus returning All-City players Julian Richardson and Maleke Haynes.

Fairfax (19-9) was given the No. 3 seed and Narbonne (20-8) picked up the No. 4 seed. First-round games are set for Friday. The best opening game might be No. 7 Washington at No. 10 University. Washington upset Narbonne on Friday in a Marine League game.

In Division II, Sylmar, Granada Hills, Verdugo Hills and Poly are the top four seeds. Huntington Park (Division III), Rancho Dominguez (Division IV) and View Park (Division V) all gained top seeds in their respective divisions.

In girls’ Division I, Fairfax (25-6) was given the No. 1 seed over defending champion Narbonne (21-6), which was seeded No. 2. That should provide motivation for the Gauchos, who beat Fairfax in last year’s final. Palisades is No. 3 and Granada Hills No. 4.

Other No. 1 seeds are Roosevelt (Division II), Garfield (Division III), Animo South (Division IV) and View Park (Division V).
