Although the Clippers are showing some signs of improvement on the injury front, they have another injury to deal with.
Matt Barnes, who is recovering from surgery to repair a torn retina in his left eye, said he is going to visit his doctor Tuesday and is hopeful that he'll be able have full contact during practice this week.
Barnes said he has been able to do some conditioning drills since Wednesday while the Clippers were on their seven-game, 13-day trip.
Barnes, the backup small forward, said he wants to rush his conditioning.
"I've been running and shooting for the last five days," Barnes said. "I feel good. I'm out of shape. My body feels good. I don't get any more headaches."
J.J. Redick has a cast on his broken right hand. He also has torn ligaments.
Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said Redick, who was injured against Sacramento on Nov. 30 and was scheduled to be out six to eight weeks, may get his cast off "early."
"But that doesn't mean he'll be back any earlier," Rivers said. "So, we'll see."
Green said that he has metal inside his finger and that he will wear a splint. He said he can't bend the bottom knuckle.
He said he was told that it will take about six weeks before the finger is healed.
"It's still a little tender," Green said. "But it's not too bad."
Popovich speaks highly of Jackson
Though Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich waived Stephen Jackson in April, Popovich said he still is fond of him.
"I will sound crazy since I booted him before the playoffs, but I love the guy," Popovich said. "We have a great relationship. He lives in my neighborhood. He's a great guy. He's got a great sense of humor, he's got a huge heart. He's got a few idiosyncrasies that I might not buy now and then, but he's a great kid and he adds an edge to your basketball team. He's getting older and all players who are getting older have to face certain situations and change roles and that sort of thing and he's got an opportunity to do that here with Doc and hopefully he will, because I wish him nothing but great success."
Popovich said he was "thrilled" that the Clippers signed Jackson last Tuesday.
"I was happy to talk to Doc about it and find a situation for him," Popovich said. "It's great."
