The 24-year-old former USC player shot a three-under 68 in the completion of the rain-delayed second round and birdied three of the last five holes in the afternoon for a season-best 65. She had a 13-under 200 total on Kingsmill Resort's River Course.
South Korea's Hee Young Park, the second-round leader, was second. She bogeyed No. 18 for a 69.
Second-ranked Stacy Lewis and No. 3 Lydia Ko, both trying to take the top spot in the world from Inbee Park, were five strokes back along with Katherine Kirk. Lewis shot 70, Ko 67 and Kirk 68.

Kenny Perry shot a three-under 69 on Saturday at Shoal Creek to take a one-stroke lead over John Inman after the third round of the Regions Tradition in Birmingham, Ala.
Perry is seeking his third Champions Tour major title after winning the Senior

Davidson had seven birdies and two bogeys at The Reserve at Lake Keowee to match Barber and Blaum at 14-under 201. Barber, coming off a victory two weeks ago in the South Georgia Classic, had a 68 at The Reserve. Blaum shot a 68 at Thornblade Club, the site of the final round.
Jon Curran and Kyle Reifers were a stroke back. Curran had a 66, and Reifers shot 70 — both at Thornblade.
