Billy Hurley III shot a seven-under-par 63 on Friday to take a one-stroke lead after the second round of the Greenbrier Classic at White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.

Hurley played bogey-free in shooting his lowest score of the season. The former U.S. Navy officer says it was “pretty cool” that it occurred on America’s birthday.

Hurley had a nine-under 131 total at Old White TPC.

Kevin Chappell and Chris Stroud were tied for second. Chappell had a 65 and Stroud shot 66.

First-round leader Jonas Blixt, the defending champion, shot 73 to drop to three under.

Stadler has three-stroke lead at French Open

American Kevin Stadler increased his lead to three strokes in the French Open at Saint-Quentin-En-Yvelines, following his opening 64 with a 68.

Stadler, the Phoenix Open winner in February, had a 10-under 132 total on Le Golf National’s Albatross Course, the site of the 2018 Ryder Cup.

France’s Victor Riu was second after a 67. Defending champion Graeme McDowell was tied for fourth at three under after a 69, and U.S. Open winner Martin Kaymer was another stroke back after a 68.
