Pac-12: No. 23 Arizona escapes against Washington

Ryan Anderson scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, Kadeem Allen made a three-pointer with 1 minute 1 second left as the shot clock expired and No. 23 Arizona held on for a 77-72 win over Washington on Saturday at Seattle.

Anderson, a 6-foot-9 senior, was a force on the inside, making six of 12 shots and 10 of 11 free throws, and Allen’s big shot gave the Wildcats a 75-70 lead.

Andrew Andrews made a pair of free throws for Washington, but Anderson came up with an offensive rebound after Gabe York missed a jump shot with 23 seconds remaining. Anderson made both free throws and the Wildcats (19-5, 7-4) were able to escape.

York finished with 18 points, including four three-pointers, although he made only seven of 21 shots from the field. Andrews led Washington (15-8, 7-4) with 20 points, but the Huskies dropped their sixth in a row to the Wildcats.

at California 76, Stanford 71: Jordan Mathews scored 18 points, Jaylen Brown added 16 and the Golden Bears ended a four-game losing streak to the Cardinal.

Kameron Rooks had career highs of 11 points and 12 rebounds, his first career double-double, for Cal (15-8, 5-5 Pac-12), which remained perfect at home (14-0) and extended its home winning streak to 15, matching the third-longest in school history.

Rosco Allen scored 16 and Dorian Pickens added 10 points for Stanford (11-10, 4-6), which lost its third straight.

Arizona State 67, at Washington State 55: Tra Holder scored 16 points to lead the Sun Devils (13-11, 3-8), as the Cougars (9-14, 1-10), playing without injured leading scorer Josh Hawkinson, lost for the ninth time in a row.

at Oregon State 60, Colorado 56: Gary Payton II had 17 points to lead the Beavers (14-8, 5-6), but neither team shot 40%.
