Candace Parker leads Sparks past Chicago Sky, 80-76
Candace Parker had 18 points and seven rebounds, Kristi Toliver scored 15 and the Sparks defeated the Chicago Sky, 80-76, at Staples Center on Tuesday night for their fifth victory in a row.
Reserve Jantel Lavender continued her strong recent play, adding 10 points and seven rebounds for the Sparks (17-7), who moved to within a game of Western Conference-leading Minnesota.
Chicago rookie Elena Delle Donne, the league’s fourth-leading scorer, did not play in the second half because of a left foot injury. There was no immediate update on her status.
Sylvia Fowles led the Sky (15-8) with 22 points, 10 in the fourth quarter, and nine rebounds.
Chicago entered the game ranked first in the WNBA in field-goal defense, but the Sparks shot 52%.
