Spurs defeat Knicks, 100-99, to remain unbeaten at home

Kawhi Leonard had 19 points and 12 rebounds and the San Antonio Spurs held off Kristaps Porzingis and the New York Knicks 100-99 on Friday night to remain undefeated at home.

San Antonio won its franchise-record 22nd straight home game to open the season, but this was its most difficult victory yet.

Porzingis had 28 points and 11 rebounds but was on the bench when the Knicks started a 14-4 run to pull within 96-94 with 1:27 remaining.

New York’s Arron Afflalo hit his second three-pointer in the final 2 minutes to make it 98-97 Spurs. After Tony Parker’s layup for San Antonio, Porzingis threw down an alley-oop dunk.

Parker missed a jumper, and then Jose Calderon missed a contested three-pointer from the left corner.

at Milwaukee 96, Dallas 95: Khris Middleton’s driving layup with less than 10 seconds to play carried the Bucks to a victory over the Mavericks. The Bucks snapped Dallas’ six-game winning streak against them.

Indiana 91, at New Orleans 86: Ian Mahinmi had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and the Pacers posted a win over a reeling Pelicans team that lost Anthony Davis to a lower back bruise early in the game.

Toronto 97, at Washington 88: DeMar DeRozan scored 21 of his season-high 35 points in the second half, Kyle Lowry had 21 points and 10 assists, and the Raptors beat the Wizards.

Cleveland 125, at Minnesota 99: J.R. Smith scored a season-high 27 points and Kevin Love had 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists in his return to Minnesota to help the Cavaliers to their sixth straight win.

Orlando 83, at Brooklyn 77: Victor Oladipo and Nikola Vucevic each scored 20 points to lead the Magic to a victory over the Nets, who have lost nine straight home games. Aaron Gordon added 14 points and Evan Fournier had 13 for the Magic, which snapped a four-game losing streak.

at Memphis 91, Denver 84: Zach Randolph scored 16 of his 24 points in the second half and Mario Chalmers made a pair of three-pointers in the final 1:30 to lead the Grizzlies to a victory over the Nuggets.

Miami 103, at Phoenix 95: Dwyane Wade scored 27 points and the Heat beat the Suns for the 11th straight time.

Golden State 128, at Portland 108: Klay Thompson scored 36 points, making seven three-pointers, and the Warriors beat the Trail Blazers for their fifth straight victory.
