GALAXY VS. PORTLAND TIMBERS

When: 8 p.m. PDT Wednesday.

Where: StubHub Center.

On the air: TV: ESPN2, ESPN Deportes; Radio: 980, 1330.

Records: Galaxy, 6-5-7; Timbers, 7-5-4.

Record vs. Portland: 0-0-1.

Update: With a 6-1 victory over an amateur team in the U.S. Open Cup and a 5-1 win against the Philadelphia Union in the last week, the Galaxy offense is kicking into high gear just in time to welcome one the league’s best defenses; Portland gives up only 0.88 goals per game. The Timbers and the Galaxy are tied for third place in the Western Conference. Portland has a four-game winning streak, outscoring their opponents, 8-2, over that stretch. In the teams’ only other meeting this year, they traded goals in the last five minutes in a 2-2 tie, with Galaxy forward Alan Gordon tying the score in stoppage-time.
