Rookie cut after declaring, ‘You can’t arrest me, I’m a Colts player’

Rookie safety John Boyett will no longer be able to tell cops that they can’t arrest him because he plays for the Indianapolis Colts -- he was waived Tuesday.

Not that the line worked anyway.

Police said the sixth-round draft pick out of Oregon was arrested early Monday for public intoxication, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct after not being allowed into a downtown Indianapolis nightclub because he had had too much to drink.

Boyett ran from the police when they first tried to arrest him, then, after being caught, repeatedly told the officers, “You can’t arrest me, I’m a Colts player,” according to the police report, via the Indianapolis Star.

According to the report, Boyett also ridiculed one of the officers and threatened him, saying, “I am going to come back and break your jaw.”

Boyett had been on the Colts’ non-football injury list with injuries to both knees. He started 35 out of 40 games for the Ducks, with 278 tackles, 30 passes defensed and 10 interceptions.
