Finalizing a Rousey-Carano bout is ‘complicated,’ says UFC’s White
Former MMA superstar Gina Carano was supposed to sign a contract last week to come out of retirement and fight UFC women’s champion Ronda Rousey later this year. UFC President Dana White all but guaranteed it.
It didn’t happen.
At a news conference Saturday night, White said, “It’s complicated. It’s going very positive, but it’s complicated.”
White did not expand upon his comments, leaving us to wonder what the complications might be. Speculation is that it involves working a fight against Rousey into Carano’s burgeoning movie career.
Carano hasn’t fought since 2009, and if she does sign and fight Rousey, few people expect her to win. But a lot of people will be watching.
