Kansas Coach Charlie Weis thinks some local news isn’t fit to print

Kansas Coach Charlie Weis might not want to pick up the student newspaper after Saturday’s 56-16 loss at Kansas State.

Weis was critical of the University Daily Kansan this week for not supporting the home team.

In a tweet this week, Weis said “Team slammed by our own school newspaper. Amazing! No problem with opponents paper or local media. You deserve what you get. But, not home!

The paper touted Kansas’ game in a headline as “Road Kill Ahead.”

Turns out the the paper was right. Kansas led the game, 14-7, at one point, but the Jayhawks were outscored 35-2 in the second half.

Kansas State was favored by 24 and won by 40.

Weis is in his first year at Kansas, now 1-4. The former Notre Dame coach saw his career win-loss record drop to 36-31.

A negative student paper could note that if Kansas loses its next six games, Weis will drop under .500 for his career at home against Iowa State on Nov. 17.

Kansas’ student paper, by contrast, has been named “College Newspaper of the Year” the last two years for circulation above 30,000.
