Mike Krzyzewski reportedly will coach Team USA in 2016 Olympics

It’s a legendary basketball coach’s prerogative to change his mind.

That’s just what Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski appears to have done, as multiple sources are reporting that the winningest coach in NCAA men’s Division I basketball history has agreed to coach Team USA in the 2016 Olympics.

Coach K, who led the Americans to gold in 2008 and 2012, had previously maintained that he would not be back at the helm for the Rio Games.

An announcement is expected to be made Thursday at Duke.

Krzyzewski took over the U.S. team in 2005, a year after its disappointing bronze-medal showing in the 2004 Olympics. In addition to striking Olympic gold twice, the Americans also won the 2010 world basketball championship under the Hall of Fame coach’s leadership.

He has compiled a 957-297 record as head coach at Army (1975-80) and Duke (1980-present) and has led the Blue Devils to four national titles (1991, 1992, 2001, 2010).
