Watch Nick Saban get upset over an unauthorized biography
Alabama Coach Nick Saban made two things abundantly clear during a news conference Thursday: There is no depth chart for the Crimson Tide, and he isn’t a fan of unauthorized biographies.
Maybe Alabama has so many blue-chippers that it doesn’t have need for a depth chart. The whole “next man up” philosophy works just fine there. You can’t argue with the Tide’s success, having won three national titles from 2009 to 2012.
But Saban made it clear, as you can see in the attached video, that the time for a biography on the coach is many years away and will be done by one man only.
Saban’s statements came when he was asked about Monte Burke’s book, “Saban: The Making of a Coach,” which was released this month.
“I just want everybody to know that I’m opposed to an unauthorized biography on anybody,” Saban said. “If some person that you don’t even know (is) trying to profit by your story or someone else’s story. ... One of these days, when I’m finished coaching at Alabama, I’ll write an authorized book because there’s only one expert on my life, and guess who that is — me.
“And there won’t be any misinformation. There won’t be any false statements. There won’t be any hearsay. There won’t be any expert analysis from anybody else. It will be the real deal.”
