Santa Anita cancels Thursday race card because of heat
Santa Anita Park has canceled its live thoroughbred racing program for Thursday because of the excessive heat, the track announced Wednesday.
Temperatures in the Arcadia area Thursday are forecast to top 100 degrees.
The track plans to resume racing on Friday.
“In consultation with our stakeholders and the Jockeys Guild, we feel it is best to cancel Thursday and resume racing as originally scheduled for Friday,” track President Tom Ludt said in a news release.
