Boys’ basketball: Mission League teams clash on Saturday
The Santa Monica tournament and San Fernando Valley Invitational will match Mission League teams in championship games on Saturday.
At Santa Monica, Loyola will face Chaminade. At Kennedy, Crespi will take on Alemany. Chaminade defeated Fairfax, 58-53, in the semifinals. Jack Williams had 23 points and 14 rebounds. Loyola defeated Santa Monica, 98-64. Thomas Welsh had 21 points and 11 rebounds. Max Hazzard had 19 points and Parker Jackson-Cartwright had 14 points and 11 assists.
In a consolation game, Brentwood defeated Harvard-Westlake, 77-72. Maxwell Kupchak had a career-high 25 points. Tra Holder had 23 points. Alex Copeland had 22 points for Harvard-Westlake.
Crespi defeated Crescenta Valley, 65-63. Max Heidegger scored 27 points. Alemany defeated Canyon in overtime, 80-78. Gary Chivichyan had 21 points and Shacquille Dawkins added 20.
The Westchester tournament championship game will match Westchester against Bishop Montgomery. Westchester defeated Gardena Serra, 82-67. Bishop Montgomery defeated El Camino Real, 59-54. In a consolation game, Taft defeated Windward, 62-61. Chris Sandifer scored 29 points.
At Maranatha, the championship game will match Chino Hills against Cantwell-Sacred Heart. Cantwell defeated Price, 59-54. Chino Hills defeated Sylmar, 77-52. Los Osos defeated La Salle, 74-44. Jamar Akoh had 18 points and Tide Osifeso had 11 assists.
In the Ocean View tournament, El Toro and Compton will play for the title. El Toro defeated Orange Lutheran, 60-40.
Thousand Oaks will play Glendora in the Sierra Vista championship game. The Lancers defeated Colony, 75-52. Matt Hauser scored 19 points and Derek Ludlow 15.
Damien defeated Sunny Hills, 71-54. Jeremy Hemsley and Malik Fitts had 21 points apiece.
Sierra Canyon defeated Valencia, 87-82, in overtime in the Simi Valley tournament. Cody Riley had 26 points. Sierra Canyon will face Santa Barbara in the championship game. Jack Baker had 17 points, 20 rebounds, five blocks and two dunks in Santa Barbara’s 72-51 win over Simi Valley.
St. Francis defeated San Bernardino, 67-53. Kyle Leufroy scored 28 points and Noah Willerford 24.
Mater Dei defeated Mission Viejo, 69-47. Stanley Johnson had 35 points and 13 rebounds. Temecula Valley defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 72-70. Jusin Simon, who had 20 points, scored the game-winning basket at the buzzer. Ryan Ducar had 17 points for Notre Dame.
Westlake defeated Kenendy, 71-50. Jeremiah Gray had 15 points for Westlake. Chris Gonzalez scored 24 points for Kennedy.
In the Providence tournament, Chatsworth will face Providence in the final. Chatsworth defeated Pilibos, 81-39. Providence defeated Salesian, 54-53.
