Angels acquire third baseman Conor Gillaspie from Chicago White Sox

The Angels have acquired infielder Conor Gillaspie from the Chicago White Sox for cash considerations, giving them a potential short-term fill-in for injured third baseman David Freese, who broke a bone in his right index finger Wednesday night and will be out for at least three weeks. The left-handed-hitting Gillaspie, who was designated for assignment by the White Sox, hit .237 with three home runs, 15 runs batted in, 11 doubles and 10 runs in a limited role this season, starting 52 games, 50 at third-base. As a starter in 2014, Gillaspie, 28, hit .282 with a .336 on-base percentage, .416 slugging percentage, seven homers and 57 RBIs in 130 games. He hit .245 with 13 homers and 40 RBIs...
