Giants' Matt Cain probably faces season-ending surgery

San Francisco Giants right-hander Matt Cain needs surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow, an operation that probably will end his season. Cain, a three-time All-Star who has been on the disabled list three times this year, said after playing catch Friday that he wants to wait to see how his arm responds before making a decision on when he will have surgery.
