The New York Mets said Matt Harvey will have season-ending surgery for a thoracic outlet syndrome injury, a sometimes career-threatening condition caused by the compression of nerves, blood vessels or both in the area between the neck and armpit. Harvey went 4-10 with a 4.86 ERA this season.
Mets stars Yoenis Cespedes and Noah Syndergaard left New York's game against Washington Friday night with injuries. Cespedes was pulled after three innings with a strained right quadriceps. Syndergaard, pitching with a bone spur in his right elbow, exited with two outs in the fifth.
