Corey Perry’s NHL-leading 10 goals in 12 games not only paced the Ducks to a torrid start, it won him league recognition Monday as player of the month. Named the first of the NHL’s “Three Stars” in October, joining Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby and Dallas Stars center Tyler Seguin, Perry produced two early hat tricks for the Ducks, who possess the league’s best record (10-3). The first star of the month has been given to an Anaheim player only five other times: Paul Kariya in April 1996, and January 1998; Teemu Selanne in February 1999 and November 2006; and Perry in March 2011.
