Share

Sophomore right-hander Marc Fertig, who threw a no-hitter for Woodbridge High School on March 15, nearly duplicated that feat Thursday in the Warriors’ 8-2 win over Corona del Mar on the Sea Kings’ field.

Fertig gave up a leadoff double to Mike Perisi in the first inning, then went the rest of the way without allowing a hit as the Warriors evened their Sea View League record at 2-2. Fertig struck out six and walked two in improving his record to 3-3. Both Corona del Mar runs were unearned.

Mike MacDonald was 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs for Woodbridge, and Jeff Bacon was 2 for 4 with a two-run double in the Warriors’ four-run fifth inning.
