Baltimore Beats Lazers to Take 2-0 Series Lead

Paul Kitson tied an Major Indoor Soccer League playoff record with seven goals to lead the Baltimore Blast to a 12-3 victory over the Los Angeles Lazers in a playoff game at the Civic Center Friday night.

The Blast leads the best-of-five quarterfinal series two games to none with game three scheduled Sunday at Los Angeles.

Kitson began the scoring at 1:47 of the first quarter when he beat Lazers’ defender Lee Cornwell on the right side, used the boards to pass to himself and punched a shot into the left corner from 10 feet. Kitson scored again at 9:20 of the first quarter and twice within a 5:50 span of the second quarter,giving the Blast a 6-2 halftime lead

Kitson tied Steve Zungel’s record when he scored from 100 feet with 58 seconds remaining.
