The San Francisco-based apparel maker said the closing of its Amarillo and Waco, Tex., distribution centers will result in the layoff of 375 employees. Levi Strauss, which has been streamlining operations, said it plans to expand its centers at Canton, Miss.; Little Rock., Ark.; Florence, Ky., and Henderson, Nev. It also will open a large laundry facility in El Paso to meet “the increasing demand for pre-washed jeans products.”
