Coach Mike Ditka of the unbeaten Chicago Bears says it will take at least until Friday to determine whether injured quarterback Jim McMahon will be able to start Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
McMahon, who missed much of last season with a lacerated kidney and broken hand, and the first half of the Sept. 19 Minnesota game with a neck injury, came away from Monday night’s 23-7 win over the Green Bay Packers with three new ailments. He sprained an ankle, bruised his right triceps and suffered a badly bruised buttocks.
