Slack Is Impressive at San Diego State Football Scrimmage
The running of halfback Ron Slack highlighted San Diego State’s fourth weekly intersquad football spring scrimmage Saturday.
Slack, a 5-foot 10-inch redshirt from Pasadena, scored on runs of 28 and 12 yards. On the 12-yard score, Slack took a pitchout from quarterback Jim Plum and appeared to be trapped in the backfield. But he escaped a tackle, reversed his field and outdistanced the defense.
Slack had 43 yards on six carries. Halfback Corey Gilmore gained 32 in five carries.
The Aztecs spent much of the 55-play scrimmage working on their running game. Quarterbacks Plum and Todd Santos completed 9 of 19 passes for 64 yards.
The Aztecs will complete spring practice next week.
