Musician Ike Turner, former husband and partner of Grammy-winning pop star Tina Turner, said he has taken illegal drugs for more than a decade, but will now enter a rehabilitation program. Turner appeared nervous, biting his nails and rambling about his former marriage to Tina, drug addiction and the “bad” influence friends have had on his life, during a Los Angeles news conference. Turner, who has been arrested on cocaine possession charges several times, said he began using drugs in 1971, but had stopped recently. He introduced Antoine Marengo, an admitted former alcoholic and drug user, who Turner said was helping to wean him off drugs. Marengo said he had formed a group, the Kick the Habit Foundation, to help entertainers stop using drugs.
