Golf Roundup : Nakajima Has One-Shot Lead; Tewell Falters

Japan’s Tsuneyuki Nakajima shot a 70 Friday to take a one-shot lead after two rounds of the $812,500 Dunlop Phoenix golf tournament at Miyazaki, Japan.

Nakajima was at 137. Kikuo Arai, a first-round co-leader, shot a 71 and was second at 138. Another Japanese golfer, Hiroshi Makini, had a 68 and was at 139. The other first- round co-leaders, Australian Graham Marsh and Doug Tewell, shared fourth at 140 with Masashi (Jumbo) Ozaki and Andy Bean. Ozaki shot a 71, Marsh a 73, Tewell a 73 and Bean a 71.

Overcoming tricky winds and a double bogey at the 10th hole, Bruce Crampton shot a seven-under-par 65 to take a one-stroke lead over Dale Douglass in the first round of the $200,000 Shearson Lehman Brothers senior tournament at Delray Beach, Fla., the final event on the senior schedule.

Australian Terry Gale overcame strong, gusty winds for a two-under-par 70 that gave him a 36-hole score of 138 and a one-stroke lead in the $100,000 West Australian Open at Perth. Australians Ossie Moore (70) and Peter Senior (75) were tied for second.
