Chapman College’s men’s basketball team goes after its fourth straight victory when it meets Southern California College tonight in the Hutton Sports Center at Orange.

The three victories, all at home, came after the Panthers lost their first three games during a trip to Hawaii.

Chapman shot better than 50% in all but one game and outrebounded its opponents in five of the six games. Hawaii Pacific College, which plays at Chapman Monday night, outrebounded the Panthers, 30-28, in their first meeting, which Chapman lost 91-83.

Chapman last played Southern California College, an NAIA school in Costa Mesa, in 1984 when the Vanguards rallied from a five-point deficit in the final minute to win, 70-69.

Southern California College is 3-1 with victories over Cal State San Bernardino, Pacific Christian and Occidental. It lost to Houston Baptist, 74-55, last Saturday.

Robbie Lucas, a 6-foot 7-inch center, leads the Vanguards with a 17.5 scoring average, followed by senior forward Jon Haar at 17.0.
