A San Diego man was slain in a drive-by shooting as he and a girlfriend were about to get into a car in front of a convenience store, police reported Thursday.
Marvin Standard, 26, was pronounced dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. A coroner’s report said Standard was suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and buttocks.
Lt. Tom Deese said Standard and the woman were outside the 7-Eleven at 15 N. Euclid Ave. when a gunman in a passing car opened fire, hitting Standard and spraying the wall of the store with bullets.
Standard’s girlfriend escaped injury, Deese said. Witnesses told police it sounded as if the gunman had used an automatic weapon.
