Local News in Brief : It’s Lights Out for Some
Several small power outages vexed some areas of Los Angeles on Tuesday, Department of Water and Power officials said.
About 1,500 residential and business customers were without electricity when tree branches fell on power lines near Crescent Heights and Sunset boulevards at 7:16 a.m. DWP officials said that outage was repaired by about 10:20 a.m.
Meanwhile, several buildings in the Civic Center, including police headquarters at Parker Center, lost electricity about 9:30 a.m. after a transformer bank in a downtown receiving station malfunctioned. Service to about 2,700 customers was restored in about 10 minutes, officials said.
