College Roundup : Bickmore, Lundy Lead SCC’s Rout

Southern California College defeated Cal Lutheran, 101-72, in a Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Saturday night at Thousand Oaks.

Jeff Bickmore had 23 points and Kyle Lundy 21 for SCC (13-2 overall, 2-0 in conference play). SCC’s Jim Mansfield added 15 points.

Steve deLaveaga had 23 points for Cal Lutheran (6-10, 0-2).

In other Golden State Athletic Conference action:

Cal Baptist 107, Christ College Irvine 74--Tony Smith had 27 points to lead host Cal Baptist. Albert Gay had 14 points for Christ College Irvine (4-13, 0-2).

In Big West Conference women’s basketball:

Cal State Fullerton 78, San Jose State 51--Gena Miller led Fullerton at Titan Gym with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocked shots.

Miller, a sophomore center, was 7 of 11 from the field and 7 of 8 from the free-throw line for Fullerton.

Kathy Werth, a forward who made 9 of 14 from the field, added 19 points for the Titans (12-2, 4-1).

Fullerton shot 53.1% from the field for the game. The Spartans shot just 38%.

Guard LaTasha Causey had 17 points to lead San Jose (3-11, 0-5).

Pacific 66, UC Irvine 51--Julie Szukalski had a game-high 23 points to lead Pacific at Stockton.

Irvine’s Jenny Lee had a team-high 15 points.

Kathy Lizarraga added 13 points for the Anteaters and made 3 of 6 shots from 3-point range.

Pacific improves to 3-10, 1-3. Irvine falls to 4-10, 0-5.

In nonconference men’s swimming:

Utah 125, UC Irvine 58--Utah’s Richard Johansson won the 200 and 500 freestyle to lead the visiting Utes. Johansson won the 200 in 1 minute 42.80 seconds and the 500 in 4:36.84.

Kort Borg added victories in the 1- and 3-meter dives and Anders Bladh won the 50 freestyle in 21.06 and the 100 freestyle in 46.49 for Utah.

Irvine’s Brian Pajer won the 100 breaststroke in 58.21. Utah won 11 of the meet’s 12 events.
