Laurel Drops Arabian Races

LAUREL, Md. —
Laurel Race Course is discontinuing Arabian horse racing, president and chief executive officer Joseph A. De Francis announced Tuesday.
Arabian horse racing was instituted by De Francis’ father, the late Frank De Francis in an attempt to spark more interest in horse racing but was unpopular with thoroughbred trainers and owners and failed to interest race goers.
