Ban on Barbecue Lighter Fluid
Any move by the AQMD to reduce smog in Southern California should be commended. However, its 1992 ban of barbecue lighter fluid seems ridiculously trivial in light of a much larger problem. Haven’t the district’s decision-makers noticed the endless caravan of diesel trucks spewing thick brown smoke?
I greatly resent that I along with millions of other Angelenos pay for and maintain emission-control devices on my car and then have to drive behind a cement truck, a grocery truck or a gasoline tanker which is pumping exhaust filth into our lungs.
