Series to Focus on Mid-Life Issues

St. Irenaeus Catholic Church has scheduled a three-week series called, “Mid-Life: Crisis or Challenge?” beginning Monday evening.

Cypress College psychology professor Bob Lee will lead the first session with the topic, “An Introduction to Mid-Life Issues and Adult Transitions.”

Topics for the second and third sessions are: Psychologist Vickie Dendinger discussing “Challenge or Crisis of Mid-Life Issues and the Tools to Deal with Them,” and Sister Molle Neville from the Center for Spiritual Development in Orange, with “Spirituality for Mid-Life.”

The Rev. Bob Morley will sing in a concert Sunday at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church.

Morley is known for his music and also for his lectures and seminars. He is the pastor of Newport Center United Methodist Church in Corona del Mar and the author of the book, “Aerobics for the Spirit.”

As part of the season of remembrance, beginning with Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Day), Temple Beth El of Laguna Niguel and the Anti-Defamation League are presenting “Lives to Save: Righteous Gentiles.”

This two-character play is performed by Act 1 Presentations’ co-founders Isaac Dostis and Diana Sunrise. Act 1 Presentations, based in New Jersey, is in its ninth year of producing plays. “Righteous Gentiles” has already toured Israel twice, as well as Canada and the states of Oregon and Kentucky.

The play is about Christians who helped the Jews during the Holocaust and will be performed at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Beth El, 30121 Niguel Road, Laguna Niguel. There is a $5 charge for adults; children and teen-agers admitted free. Information: (714) 364-2332.

“The Gospel of Mark: A Journey in Faith” is the title of a free 10-week course at Garden Grove United Methodist Church.

The class meets on Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m. and is led by Ken Macklin, associate pastor.

Rabbi Mendel Duchman of South County Chabad has planned a lunch Kiddush today in recognition of the yartzeit (anniversary of a death) of his father, Rabbi Israel Duchman.

“Energizing Your Marriage” is the theme this month at Mission Lutheran Church’s adult Sunday school class, conducted by seminar speakers Bob and Yvonne Turnbull of Mission Viejo.
