Ryan Is All Class; Rickey Is Mostly Brash
How appropriate that the ageless Nolan Ryan pitched his record seventh no-hitter the day that Rickey Henderson broke Lou Brock’s record. Ryan was so thankful and humble in his moment of triumph. Henderson, on the other hand, was arrogant, cocky and filled with self-praise.
In this age of overpaid athletes, Nolan Ryan is an excellent role model. Rickey Henderson could certainly take a humility lesson from Ryan and accept his praise with the dignity and responsibility of a true superstar.
