BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Injured Davis Will Miss 7 to 10 Days
Cincinnati Red outfielder Eric Davis will be out of action for seven to 10 days with a strained hip, the team said. Davis sustained the injury in the first inning of Cincinnati’s 6-1 victory Tuesday over Montreal while running out a ground ball to third.
The Toronto Blue Jays activated third baseman Kelly Gruber and placed left-handed pitcher Ken Dayley on the 15-day disabled list with dizziness attributed to a disturbance in the inner ear.
Gruber had been placed on the disabled list May 7, retroactive to May 2, because of a sprained ligament and chip fracture at the base of his right thumb sustained in a rundown against Texas on May 1.
