Who Was Worse, Connors or CBS?

I refer to Thomas Bonk’s article (Aug. 31), “Sometimes Grown-Ups Say the Darndest Things.” Agreed, there were some strange replies by tennis greats to reporters’ questions. However, one must keep in mind that most interviews with sporting greats are on the reporter’s turf. The player who has just completed a successful game or a lousy performance does not have the whole game to think up clever and intelligent replies. The reporter, on the other hand, has the whole game to go over his list of trite and stupid questions to throw at the player.

When will someone analyze the many sports reporters who ask those unique and profound questions such as, “How do you feel about this win, Charlie?” or, “How do you feel about this devastating loss, Charlie?”
