CS Northridge Shoots Blanks in Loss to Boise St.
Cal State Northridge missed 17 of 21 shots in the second half in a 66-45 loss to Boise State Friday night in front of 5,781 at Boise State Pavilion.
The Matadors (0-7) trailed by three points with 7:33 left, but the poor shooting and nine second-half turnovers resulted in their 10th consecutive loss dating to last season.
Brooklyn McLinn, a Northridge guard, said the team took good shots, “but we had a lot of classic in and outs.”
“We just have to knock ‘em down,” McLinn said. “We’re itching for a win. We are getting real close. You can feel it.”
Tanoka Beard, a 6-foot-9 center, scored a game-high 23 points and guard Jermaine Haliburton added 17 for Boise State (4-3), which shot 64.3% in the second half for its fourth victory in a row.
Forward Keith Gibbs led Northridge with nine points and center Percy Fisher had eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.
“You really have to have empathy for what they’re going through,” Boise State Coach Bobby Dye said of the Matadors.
“They’ve got to scramble and fight to get a win and feel good about themselves. You don’t feel good about yourself when you lose.”
