RACING ROUNDUP : Pine Bluff Wins Rebel Stakes

Pine Bluff, ridden by Jerry Bailey, scored a 2 1/2-length victory over Desert Force in the $125,000 Rebel Stakes for 3-year-olds at Oaklawn Park on Saturday.

Owned by the Loblolly Stable and trained by Tom Bohannan, the son of Danzig went 1 1/16 miles in 1:42 4/5 and returned $2.60, $2.20 and $2.20 as the 1-5 favorite in the field of seven.

Desert Force and Pine Bluff were the only Triple Crown nominees in the field. Desert Force returned $2.60 and $2.40 and finished 3 1/2 lengths ahead of Looks Like Money, who returned $2.60.

Desert Force set the early lead but Bailey, aboard Pine Bluff for the first time, stayed slightly outside of the leader until they got inside the eighth pole.

Saratoga Dew remained undefeated in four career starts, coming came from slightly off the pace for a one-length victory in $115,800 Grade II Comely Stakes at Aqueduct.

The 3-year-old filly covered a mile on the fast track in 1:37 1/5 and paid $3.60 as the odds-on favorite. City Dance was second in the seven-horse field, a half-length ahead of Looking For A Win.
