The board of directors of the Channel Islands Beach Community Services District has extended until May 7 the application deadline for residents interested in serving on a Water Project Citizens Advisory Committee.

The final selection of the 18-member ad-hoc committee is scheduled for the May 12 board meeting.

The committee’s primary purpose will be to provide guidance and advice to the board during the second phase of a water supply feasibility study, said General Manager Gerard Kapuscik in a statement.

In addition, the committee will be asked to promote citizen awareness of water problems and project planning solutions, Kapuscik said.

The board will consider applications from residents in Hollywood Beach, Silver Strand and Hollywood by the Sea, as well as representatives from county government and local business people, Kapuscik said.
