Jamie Worthem scored his third touchdown from three yards out with 1 minute 3 seconds remaining to lead Orange to a 21-14 Century League victory over Canyon Friday night at El Modena High.

Worthem followed the blocking of Ed Hansen on the three-yard sweep to cap a 52-yard scoring drive set up when Art Bell and Thomas Quinn fell on a fumbled punt return by Canyon.

Worthem scored from the 12 in the first quarter to cap a 30-yard scoring drive set up on Cesar Lopez’s interception. Canyon (4-3, 0-2 in league) came right back on a 59-yard touchdown pass from Gunnar Strunz to Greg Jacobs.

Orange (4-3, 2-0) regained the lead with 6:43 left in the first half when Worthem broke through a hole created by Lon Koontz and Eric Krebs to score from the nine. The 98-yard scoring drive was highlighted by passes by Andy Lauridsen of 48 yards and 19 yards to Andre Holmes and 15 yards to Bell, the only three completions by the Panthers. Lauridsen left the game soon after with a possible sprain in his right leg.

Canyon tied the game with 6:38 left when Daryl Lawrence scored from the two on a fourth-down play.
